Tumbling Lioness

Bronze or resin, 29" x 16" x 12," edition of 15

Tumbling Lioness was motivated by a scene in the ancient epic, Gilgemesh. A lion tackles the mighty warrior and oppressor king. I originally made a mock-up of a lioness tumbling and playing with a horrified man tangled in her embrace.  For practical reasons I decided to focus solely on the lioness first.  The next stage of my work will be to incorporate the horrified warrior. Tumbling Lioness was selected for the Elliot Gantz & Co., Foundry Award at the 79th Annual Awards Exhibition of the National Sculpture Society, Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina.
